I Dug Up an old Ford FE engine in my back yard ( redneck I know) I'm not sure what it Is Just trying to see what the aplication was and if it's worth anything to someone. here is what I know
it's Painted Blue, Has no Harmonic Balancer just a thin disk with a timing tab attached to a 2 groove pully, it has the distributor in the front and a circular bolt patern on the bellhousing bolts. the valvecovers are attatched to both the head and the intake and it has car or truck exhaust manifolds on it. it also has a valley pan in the lifter valley.
I have some pictures if anyone would be interested in them. I mean it looks like it was relatively new when it was pulled out just conciderign that there was no grease or oil leaks anywhere on the engine. and I know this engine has to be at least as old as the late 60's cuz i've owned the home since 1971 and Never buried anything.
The description so far sounds like a '67 or earlier FE. If everything is original, all I need is the number off the dizzy to tell what engine it is. Example, C5AF-12127-E. The 12127 is not important, it's what's before and after that is.
From the damper description I'd say 352. My buddy has a '66 F-100 and the damper is just like that; doesn't look like a damper at all at first glance. A sad fate for any FE to end up in a hole in the ground; I thought that kind of treatment was reserved for those Chebby motors.
wonder why they buried it in the first place ? maybe it was in a 4x4 and it got stuck really deep in the back yard and dug itself under the ground, maybe go back and look in the hole to see if the rest of the truck is in there too. lol
