Don't know the Helmers, but I know where Battle Creek is, just west of the casino. And yes, 52nd turns into Javine at OK20.
Ok, plan on coming in Sept with your new Ford. Most of us are driving older Fords, from the 70's and 80's, but some of us have new ones as well. You'll fit right in.
I finally got my truck, it took a few months! I ended up with a 17 F150, 6.5' bed, 4x4, 3.5 EB. I picked it up a week and a half ago, I love it. We will be in town for our nieces wedding the weekend of July 15th. I don't know about September yet, but keep me posted on the get-together.

Will do. It is Sept 16th, but I will update with planned activities.
If you don't go off-road, don't drive in snow, and don't pull up slippery boat ramps, then you will probably be fine without it. Up here in snow country, resale is not good on a 2WD, because almost everyone who needs a truck has some use for the 4x4.

What made you choose the 4x4, if you don't need it? Resale value?

Being frank and honest, I got the 4x4 because the selection of 6.5' bed trucks was very limited if you didn't want the huge (Super Duty) tow mirrors. Most of the trucks around here are 5.5' beds and 80% of the 6.5' bed trucks had those mirrors. I didn't like the look. The truck that had what I wanted on it happened to be a 4x4.
In texas, you'll pay more for the 4wd option than any gain in residual value for having it when you sell it. I guess things may be different up north where ice and snow are a real issue.
The only excuse I can come up with for choosing 4X4 is I'm 70 years old and wanted a 4X4.
62 and basically the same reason. I know my reactions are slowing down along with eye sight and other things. I want to be able to go when I want and need to regardless of the weather. Not counting getting into some the places I like to fish! Also we don't get enough snow here for people to drive in it and I want to be able to get out of the way!!
I still love my 2 WD.
But sure think everyone should drive what they want....pick your pain colors, driveline, interior, cab size, rims etc you like.
I just love my 2 WD is all.
I would think that the only thing that affects maneuverability would be wheel base. My 157" wheelbase is not exactly easy to toss around. The suspensions are nearly the same, minus the drivetrain hardware.
