Anybody who owned a Chevy Vega knows how much oil the cats can deal with (one heck of a lot IMO).
All I can say is excluding that Vega and my installed 5.4L I have never had measaurable oil consumption.
Now that my 5.4L was replaced, it is also 'oil tight'.
Look at the engine and your driving style and you may find the reason.
