I just came across a parts lot of 73-79 NOS Ford body parts. They were purchased from a local Ford dealership that went out of business back in the 80's. The lot consists of 8 bed sides, a core support, and 4 or 5 inner fenders (the galvanized steel pieces). He also has some other NOS stuff that he's keeping for his own build.
The sides are all for the style sides & are there are both 8' & 6' sides with various fuel door configurations. They are all in the original ford boxes with the numbers on them. Some boxes are in rough shape but all the panels are straight with only minor surface rust (if anything) from sitting in a shed.
I think the price he's asking is reasonable for the parts but it's a lot of $$ still. My question for the forum is, do you think there's a market for these parts at $600-$800 a side? What I'd like to do is keep a pair for myself then sell the rest to recoup what I'd have into them. Any opinions would be appreciated
I see them out there in the 8 and 9 hundred dollar range,,,but then their is shipping, there is a fellow in Virginia with a couple at that price range,he has been sitting on them a little while,,,,I didnt know about that left fender, that is intresting,,,yes inner fender

Yeh I've seen a couple on eBay in that price range recently that don't seem to be moving, & I don't want to have a bunch of money tied up in them for an extended period of time.

yea Ive had my 2 wheel drive cab on my highboy before, and it worked, just didnt know there was a diffrence in the inner fender,I cant remember a problem,we shall see
Got a chance to go over and pull those box sides out of the shed last night & here’s a list of what’s there:
1 – short bed driver’s side panel
4 – long bed driver’s side panels w/round hole for filler neck
1 – long bed driver’s side panel with square fuel door
2 – long bed passenger’s side panels
3 – driver’s side inner fender aprons (not sure if they’re for a 2wd or 4wd, will need to look at the numbers)
2 – passenger’s side inner fender aprons
1 – core support (looks like it’s for a 78/79)
Some of the panels have a bunch of surface rust, but there is no rot or scale on any of them. Since there’s only two passenger’s side panels in the whole lot (& I’d want to keep one of them) I would only be able to sell one RH & LH set. I’m thinking that it might be tough to move the driver’s side only panels even at $600 a piece. Any additional thoughts or opinions?
Well, I don't think $600 is too bad of a price, but you're too far from me shipping-wise (I'm interested in a long passenger side).
But if you're trying to flip them to come out with yours free (don't blame you a bit) it sounds like that's about what he's asking apiece for them, or close to.
I'd be tempted to just buy what I needed if I were you and go on. That being said, you're up in a rusty area, I wouldn't think they'd be hard to get rid of.
Yep that would be the plan, keep a pair of box sides for my project then sell the rest to get my money back. Unfortunately he won't split up the lot either. You'd think that NY would be a good place to sell new box sides, but the rust is so bad here that people need whole new beds not just sides lol.
I have a feeling there'd be more work involved than it's worth...moving, cleaning, taking pics, posting ads, answering questions, getting shipping quotes, crating them up, dropping off at a trucking terminal, etc. I might've just talked myself out of it.
