Help me understand the lower towing capacity for the 350 versus the 250 per the guide. short bed 4x4 with diesel engine???? should be the other way around?
Maybe I'm missing something, but under the spec section on the Ford website under payload options, it list the max GVWR for a 350 srw 4x4 as 11,500, but on the build & price section the highest GVWR package is 11,400 for a 350 srw 4x4???????????? Just misprints, or what?

11,400 is a downgrade for documentation only, as are the other lesser packages. Some prefer to register at a lower weight for monetary reasons in their individual states.
On the build site it only lists upgraded front springs with the camper package. Does it automatically bump you up to or default to the 11,400 package too?

The camper package does not change the rated 11,500 lb on the F-350. It increases the front springs to maximum in order to handle the offset load of a slide in camper. As far as the rating itself goes, nothing changes.
No. You need the camper package for the max towing and payload according to my dealer
I think your dealer is referring to the F250 with a camper package. The package adds the second spring pack to the rear, (helper springs) and upgrades the front springs up to 2 levels. The rating for the truck does not change even though it is more capable. The F250 SRW rating is at 10,000 lbs unless a package which lowers the rating is selected. The F350 SRW is rated at 11,500 unless a package which lowers the rating is selected. Choosing a lower rating does not change anything physical about the truck.
If you look at the towing guide above, there are different GCWR ratings. The F350 SRW has a MAX of 28,700. That is the total weight of the truck and trailer combined. It does not change the GVWR of 11,500. My dealer said that the camper package will max out the GCWR
