If you look at the towing guide above, there are different GCWR ratings. The F350 SRW has a MAX of 28,700. That is the total weight of the truck and trailer combined. It does not change the GVWR of 11,500. My dealer said that the camper package will max out the GCWR
At this point I will take your dealers word for that. I cannot find it spelled out anywhere and I have also found 3 dealers who did not understand much about towing or camper package and spring rate relationships. I do not know of any components of the camper package which might effect the GCWR unless the anti sway bar or the front spring upgrade contributes to that. The documents indicate those two items and a certification that the vehicle can handle xxxx pounds for a slide in camper are all the package does. (plus the F250 helper springs). If you come across a document explaining this further I would be interested in viewing it. Thanks.
You don't need the camper package to get the 11,500# gvwr - it is the default. On the 2016, the camper or snow plow package significantly degrades empty ride quality. For 2017, it increases the front springs from 5600# to 6000#. I wouldn't get it unless you really need it.

The increase in front end support is sure to make a difference. I wonder how much the addition of the anti sway bar contributes to the degraded ride. When I switched from the 1" factory anti sway on my '01 to the Hellwig Big Rig 1 5/16" the ride quality got markedly worse. The improvement to handling with the camper on board was worth it. We need to consider if the empty ride or the loaded capability is more important in our lives.
I got stuck with the camper package to get 18's and the 3.55 rear end so if the upgraded front axles rides rougher than I like I bet a Ranch hand bumper at around 250 lbs will help.

Since I know the benefit of 300 lbs in the back end I was wondering how to add weight to the front end. Not a bad idea. But for now I like the styling enough I would hate to change it right away. Maybe just a decent deer/moose guard. But they always come with the heavy bumper to mount them. I will see how the ride is. It should be pretty good at first. Snow always gives a smoother ride.
