How much to put an engine in?

A friend of mine just had a local shop drop a 6.0L power stroke engine in his F550. They charged him $14,000.00!!! (or so)
Do you think that is in the "ball park", or a little to a lot excessive?
Not rebuild or recoditioned, but brand new motor.

I see engine prices on line in the 4 - 5K range . . . but this was more than double the cost of an engine.

These numbers you guys are putting out are INSANE!!!!

I remember watching the almighty 6oh God, Bill Hewitt, saying to expect $7k or something close to that. Remember the video, "what year Powerstoke is the best".

Im thinking 10K for dealer cost

3C3Z-6009-AARM 3C3Z-6009-AARM / SHORT BLOCK1 F350
$5,443.48$5,089.66

Of coarse independent shop would be less or should be 7-9K range but you get what you pay for

Hard to say without knowing all varibles in you buddy case

Maybe I think happened is they did a long block and probably kept his parts to put on other trucks

There is a shop here in Utah doing it

The shop here being deceptive about it the people don't realize all core fee shop is presenting old parts as bad to a degree

It's a way for them to fix multiple trucks on one guys dime

If you had a Ford dealership drop in a Ford reman'd long block complete back in 2010 it typically ran around $15,000. I can try to find the receipt but someone is going to have to pay for the therapy after I find it.

That unit doesn't include the transmission, it has the correct rear cover for an automatic transmission.

A complete drop-in 6.0 reman from Ford is just north of $13k, as already posted.
