Stock vs Retail from Ford Chat

Just a little info that MAY clear up some of the priority number / stock vs retail.

"That's correct, there's no VIN yet. The wait time is most likely due to how the 2017 Super Duty dealer stock just arrived at dealer lots. This means the retail orders are happening now."

"That's quite all right, I'm happy to clear this up for you. When a new vehicle begins production the dealerships orders are completed first. Then the customer orders (known as retail) begin when the dealer stock arrive at said dealer."

Is there any difference between a dealer stock order and a retail order?

With a new production stock orders are the first produced in order to fill up the dealers and get the gremlins out of the assembly line. Then the OK to Sell order comes down from FoMoCo and the retail orders start and also take precedent over the stock orders.

Here is an explanation of the order process in short form. Just because it comes from Focus site don't disregard. The process is the same.

Retail order does allow you to lock in coupons or rebates as well as pricing. If you ask a dealer to order it for dealer stock you might get it sooner, but you give up the option to take the deals from the time of the order. While it's unlikely, it's also possible a dealer stock unit slip through and go to the lot and sold before your salesperson catches that it was in. I'm sure there are ways to prevent it, but our PID and reconditioning departments let me know when a special order unit is in with my personal order code on it. If it's not special order, they'll just push it through and I'd have to be watching for it.

All stock orders (dealer is not quite correct since all orders are in essence dealer orders) are run until the line gets it right and the parts all fit as they are supposed to. Then the retail orders, like mine and several others, get scheduled and produced. There are probably stock orders which will get shoved aside for a while or some dealers who do not have enough allotments to get more stock orders. All explained in the post above link. Hate to say this but It is MY turn. Hear that Ford???? That feels better and I do wish everyone could have their truck on the day they wanted it.

Am I think crazy one here, below it says that KTP is tackling sold units first - then moving on to dealer stock...

I think it is GREAT. We are paying for ours. Stock orders could sit for months before being sold and we all entered into this schedule with eyes wide open.

I totally agree, and have always agreed that someone ordering a truck should take priority. But the goofballs at my dealer ordered mine way back on 4/30 as Stock and Priority 20.

We'll see what happens.

It might be worth your while to check their allotment and how many they ordered for themselves. They may have reached their allotment. Or it might just be waiting to be picked up.

They tell me it was pulled this week and they are preparing to build it (but I trust that about as far as can throw them). Time will tell.

Here is what they said yesterday "Looks like you got pulled and waiting for update. Which means parts are being ordered for you truck as we speak. "

I won't claim to know what any of that means. LOL
