Ok so I just put an egr delete and a new oil cooler in the truck. Everything went pretty well but when I was going for a test drive I'm not building any boost. I can here the turbo whistle like always but there no power and none of my gauges register boost. Also, the transmission is shifting funny I don't know how else to explain it but just not right. Now I don't see/smell any exhaust leaks and can't hear anything too wierd in that department. I checked the intake and the intercooler tubes I think their called and all good there. However, I did break my map sensor post off my intake during the install 😒. So my map tube was just open to the atmosphere I didn't plug it or anything. Could that be the cause of my woes? Is there any thing I can do to alleviate the issues I'm having with the map? Can I just plug it until I fix it? And is there anything else to check on my turbo? Thanks for any help.
Would also cause no power too? If so that sums up every issue I'm having. I'm gonna try to jb weld the little plug back onto the intake if that doesn't work any suggestions on fixing it? I hate those little nipples on this engine I break one every time I go into it.
The sensor is good I broke the nipple off the intake...I'm trying jb weld now didn't want to have to drill and tap that big of a hole but may be the only option.
Yea that's the plan sucks but so is life...but everyone agrees that's probly the cause of my issues?? No map sensing causing my computer to go nuts ie bad shifting no boost or power
Ok so the map was my transmission, lack of power, and boost issue. But now when I put her to wot she blows a cac hose off the cooler. It has happened on both sides and no the intake feeder one it happened twice. Do I need new boots or could there be another cause? My truck is an 03 and it looks like their the factory ones.
Buy some 91% Isopropyl Alcohol in the first aid section at Wal Mart, put a bunch on a rag and clean the turbo outlet, the CAC inlet and outlet, and the intake horn. Then spray the inside of the new boots with cheap hairspray when you re-install, and crank down on the clamps. Make sure the clamps are on the inside of the ridges on the CAC side, the new boots are longer and will help.
Odds are there's just a bunch of oil residue, and if the old boots are pretty well soaked with oil then it's only a matter of time before one fails anyway.
They seem to be the correct ones yes and I think so but I'm going to take them off again clean them up more and do the hairspray trick plus ensure that the torque is correct and see...I don't think there could be any other reason I had no issues before I removed them for the oil cooler and egr delete so their probly just dirty
Tighten them down until the spring is compressed and you start to feel some resistance.
You can torque them if you like but guys like DTR do it this way in his vids, I do the same and it's worked.
Yes, they should be clean enough to eat from. That goes for the turbo itself and the intercooler hub.
