Try a fuel pressure regulator, from the symptoms you mentioned, its fairly cheap and easy to do!

The fuel pressure regulator made a difference, but the problem is still there. Not sure what to try next. I am thinking I am going to try the fuel pump next, but will wait a bit as I want to put a bigger tank on at the same time.
