I've heard that the best timing is 35degrees, is this right?
The initial timing figure, that you will be setting with a timing light, is going to probably be somewhere between 6-12 degrees.

The 35 degree figure you have, is the initial advance + centrifugal advance combined. Under certain conditions the vacuum canister on your distributor will add more timing, for power & economy at light throttle.
