Zerex ELC filled

Zerex ELC filled
You forward thinking guys around here finally convinced me to give an EC-1 rated ELC a try. Did the distilled flush and fill this weekend.
Pretty good deal I thought for a 6 pack box of Zerex ELC. Got it for $79, no tax, shipped free. Which comes to $13.17/gal. That's cheaper than I can get GO-7 around town. Must have been a clearance, because today it is not in stock and the price went up a coupla bucks. Here is the link anyway.

Nice to have 2 gallons on the shelf for maintenance, and no running around trying to find it. I used a full 4 gallons, for a 57-58% mix.
Just got tired of the every 2 years Ford Gold flush and fill, and my mechanic recommended every year. Golden showers just are not that much fun anymore.
Put a new t-stat in, and at 4 years old, the old one had a surprising amount of wear on the brass sleeve. Still held consistent temps though. A new degas cap, and a new coolant filter element too, to complete the job.
Nice to have the silicates out of the system.

I know it has always been a controversy, and I'm ok with Gold being just fine for many folks, I just personally feel there is no downside to switching to the EC-1 coolant. I found the Zerex to be the one of the cheapest concentrates when I was last shopping, but that was a very nice deal you got 
I've got 3 more diesels to switch to EC-1 myself (tractors and such), so I'll have to keep an eye on that price -- thanks for sharing
