interittent engine stall/surge

Hello. My 88' 4x4 crewcab with a 460 started hesitating badly. Had been running it hard on nasty roads (scouting for elk) and must have shaken something loose. Just wondering if there is a common place to start looking? I thought maybe it was another in-tank fuel pump going bad, but it does it on both tanks (and rear pump is new, again...) The "check engine" light comes on very briefly when it happens. It hasn't died yet, but I sure don't trust it now....

Wondering where to start looking for the needle in the haystack!
