Master Brake Cylinder Conversion From Original To Dual Push-rod Alignment

Has anyone made the conversion from the original brake master cylinder to the dual that Mid Fifty sells? I just bought one with the required bracket. I am finding out now that the bracket holds the master cylinder out from the frame about 2 11/16" and the original one was only about 1 3/8". Plus the vertical height is off some also. They give you a bolt and some spacers and washers to make up the difference but the clutch linkage is in the way. Does anyone make a transion bracket that fits in between the tabs where the original push-rod went that will align the push-rod with the new master cylinder? The new mounting bracket also sets the master cylinder aft of the access hole which means I get to cut the floor. I hope these pictures help to explain the problem.

You get points for good pictures but we need to know year and model of truck. Suggest that you put it in your signature block along with your location.

Part 5950 from mid-fifty

They say it's "for all power brake conversions"
but in reality, it's also for the dual-bowl setup w/o the booster as well.

PS - since the access hole is useless to fill the new MC on the new bracket, I used a mirror and a sriracha bottle filled with fluid. Worked like a charm!

I did not get a midfifty kit, but did a similar swap to a dual master. If I remember correctly, there should be a spacer to put between the forks in the brake linkage, and you attach the pushrod of the MC on the side of the brake linkage. So, your MC pushrod actually sits between the clutch and brake arms. You will need someone to hold down the clutch to get the bolt through. I can try and get a picture tomorrow. And yes, you will need to move your master cylinder access hole if you want to be able to easily fill it. If I can, I will try to remember and grab a pic tomorrow of my setup for you

You would need this kit aswell to move the cluth linkage inwards to get more room.

do not go cutting up your bracket. your setup looks just like mine. The rod should have a pivoting head for any offsetting anyway.
Unless you want to do a few hours of extra work cutting and welding....

Thanks for the replies and pictures.
Long story short......With the bracket that Mid Fifty recommends, the push-rod centerline difference from the original to the new was about 1 1/2". The catalog didn't indicate the clutch bracket part #5950 was required. Diane offered to send me a return ticket and the original type single bowl master cylinder and other related parts. I didn't want to R & R the clutch linkage so I decided to go with the single bowl master cylinder replacement to keep the system more original. Mid Fifty is great to work with......I am happy! Besides, I might get more tootsie rolls.............

When it comes to my trucks, 1 thing I will not skimp on is stopping. I highly recommend upgrading to a dual master. CPP makes a good kit. just my 2 cents

Resurrecting this old thread... I've got the same issue as the original poster.
It would appear that part #5950 is the solution, however, looking at a picture of the "kit" I'm at a loss to understand what the improvement is...
Does anyone have a picture of the modification installed? or at least some explanation of how it works?

Thanks

I used the dual master cylinder mount kit from CPP and the #5950 kit from MidFifty on my 54.
The "U" shape bracket in the #5950 is narrower than the stock bracket. When installed it provides clearance for the push rod that is offset from the stock location. Hope this helps.
