I'm running straight MSD ignition, 6 A box and MSD pro Billit Dizzy with vacuum advance. My cam is the extreme 4x4 210-218, .477-.498. I talked with the help center there several times picking it out and it is the one they recommended. I have since changed from 3.25 gears and a c-6 to 3.70 gears and an AOD so I'm turning alot higher RPM's now when I nail it.
I'm still happy with the cam but I have been thinking more about that 600 Holley. thinking of going bigger when I can afford it. This engine does have good torque and runs very well. A friend followed me home a while back in a 66 F100 with a brand new 390 with a hot cam and a big Holley. I nailed it, he could'nt catch me but I could'nt leave him so I was happy. I thought for sure he would dust me.lol
I have found a new set of the old Cassler headers that I think I can make work. They will help alot.

It sounds good at idle but I wish it had more lope to it just for the sound. It has some lope but not much. I'll try a 750 DP when I can afford it.
I have new valve springs coming in now. When I raced my buddy I kept it out of the secondaries due to valve float above 4800 rpm's
I also have a Baumann Eng. shift kit coming in.
Best thread on here in a while.
Need to go back and read it again as I have forgot the original question. lol

the original question was basically if a person where to add an intake carb headers what cam would be required to make it go well on the road. Mpg really isn't an issue. Yeah I looked up comp 4X4 and that cam was about as radical as you could use on the stock springs. Personally I would like something with lope, I can't get away from it I am hooked on the sound. There is a way to develop lope without sacraficing much low end torque or so I have read, but I don't care to pay for a custom cam
