I am well versed in the chemistry and the electrical realities of battery charging. It was part of my engineering education.
Some battery charger manufacturers claimhave proven that special "pulsed" charging voltages and other routines are better able to restore neglected batteries that have what is called permanent sulfation. They are also better at keeping it from happening in the first place. Or rather, to be more precise, from reducing the rate at which it inevitably happens.
