2001 Clutch
A few weeks ago, I stupidly smoked the clutch on the F150 trying to back a trailer up my steep drive. Now the clutch is pretty much engaged even with the clutch pedal on the floor and its very hard to get the transmission into/out of gear. It is obvious the shaft coming into the transmission is spinning since the gears frequently grind before engagement. However, I can see the slave cylinder move through the port that has a removable rubber plug. I must have warped the flywheel pretty badly. I mainly use the truck for hauling wood during the winter, so I would like to upgrade the clutch to one that can take a little more heat/abuse.
Any suggestions?
I have already found that I should get the Ford slave cylinder because of the rubber boot covering on the revised part that protects it from dust (but wonder if any aftermarket slaves are the same now?) Just FYI, I also plan to replace the rear main seal in the engine, the seal in the front of the transmission, in addition to all the normal clutch stuff (flywheel/pilot bearing, etc.)
Please help me save money/time!
