T5 borg warner swap..

So i just have a simple question for you all, atleast i hope it is lol..
I have a 65 swb 2wd with the 3 on the tree trans, not sure exactly what model but it was attached to a 240I even though i was told from the guy i bought it from it was a 300I but anyway, I am going to swap the old trans with a borg warner t5 with a 351w and have read a couple times that i could use the old bell housing with the t5 and will bolt on to the 351w is this true? any advice or suggestions will be very helpful..

I have a FE motor and had to use an adapter plate to mate mine but once it was attached to the bell the t5 mated right to it no problems

66 is right, I believe you do need a t5 to bell adapter plate. Here is an article that outlines what's needed for the swap:

You will want to confirm this, but I believe this is the adapter you will need:

McLeod 8607 | Buy McLeod Bellhousing Adapters & Accessories at JEGS

There may be other options out there too.

Yes I had to shorten the shaft. I found a driveshaft shop in Richmond and they took care of me.

if your t5 is a ford spec t5 just get a standard 85 93 5.0 bell housing. it will have the proper dimensions for the input shaft. 300 i6 has same bh pattern as small block fords. parts are plentiful.
