Hey guys, so today fellow FTE member nmclella and I tore into building a flatbed for my truck. Took us all day to get this far but should have most of it done before the work week. Have a look!

Looks good so far, are you going to build a gooseneck receiver in there?

 

Nice clean welds.

 

More progress on my own today, I had to modify my fuel filler, put the rub rails on do some cleanup and reinforcing etc etc. The deck is all welded on now, all that is left is my "rear plate" if you want to call it that, to close the gap above the hitch.

When money allows i will be putting underbody boxes ahead of both rear wheels.

Sorry for the double post, but the next step is lights. Does anyone have a diagram for the tail lights? Thanks.

 

Another update, finished the light plate for the rear, nmclella gave me a hand with the wiring, since it's not something i'm great with, even came up with a little cheat sheet if any of you want to tackle a build like this. De-greased, primed and bed lined the deck. Also finally sorted and tested my fuel filler, it does click off sometimes because I had to adapt the filler neck to fit, but overall very happy.

I've hit my budget for now, but really looking forward to adding underbody toolboxes ahead of the rear wheels, and finishing up my headache rack. My next mini update will be the finishing touches of the stake pockets and rubrail.

Another little update. Finished off my stake pockets and rub rail, and got to put my second load atop the deck, it was my old bed! Hauled perfectly, and for reference a rusty 8' super duty box including tailgate is exactly 420lbs (when i scrapped it).

Also, really like the overall look of the truck with my brush guard and deck when towing my enclosed trailer. Not a fancy truck, but she gets worked everyday!

I've been thinking of making my dump into a tow/hauler flat bed. i would probably use it a bunch more than I do as a dump. Looks like you guys did a clean job. Toss on some short stakes and it'll really look great!

I would recommend flaps in front of and behind the tires

 

Actually just put some on! I had thrown on my old ones which were far too small just to get by but the big ones go beyond halfway down the tires.

Budget is still my biggest issue as far as more work is concerned on the flatbed but i plan on continuing this thread as i build and modify it further.

- Installed 1000LB capable truck crane
- Modified and installed aluminum under-body tool box
- Fabricated a brand new headache rack
