Carburetor - Update

Well my hard hot restart has been fixed. It was the economizer valve leaking into the cover allowing the manifold vacuum to suck the fuel into the engine.

Well now the truck runs great but cold starts are fine but doesn't run up to 1500 rpm off the bat so I believe I need to play around with the choke pull off some as putting the AC on right off the bat will result in the truck dropping dead.

I also have a hesitation which is worse when cold than when hot. Today I had it pop in the exhaust I believe. From remembering a lean pop is through the carb and a rich pop is through the exhaust so this happened upon hitting the accelerator which resulted in a drop in rpm the pop then taking off.

I am really wondering if I should move my accelerator pump back down to the middle hole where it was. I hate to pull the screws out of the pump to pull the rod to move it down one hole only to have to move it back up as its not making an improvement.

What model carb?

We have now reached the end of my carburetor expertise.

Rust, you say "screw" to adjust the pump.
What screw as the few I checked have a clip on the throttle side you would remove to adjust the rod up or down.
Some also have 2 holes out on the pump arm and once removed from the throttle arm you can get it out of the pump arm to change holes.

You have a picture of this screw?

I don't have a picture but the plastic keeper that twists into the throttle arm has a plastic collar that the threaded accelerator pump rod screws into. This can be screwed in and out to adjust the length of the rod.

I cant do this because the plastic I am afraid of breaking as its locked pretty tight. Aside from that I am currently contemplating if I want to move the pump arm down one hole back to where it was like a year and a half ago and see what that does. I moved it up to remove a hesitation/bog on acceleration and it took care of 90% of it but now its doing it all the time when cold which could just simply be I need to adjust the choke pull off which I adjusted when I rebuilt the carb making it close more I need to adjust it the other way to open it up some and see if that helps.
