So I have this very nice a.r.e bed cover for my flareside. I got it with no key and honestly this 1 is a keeper. It has the body lines of the hood. I wouldnt want it to get stolen. It would also
be nice to be able to lock it and have items secured in the bed.
How can I beef up the locking mechanism on it?
Can I order a key with the code on the lock cylinder and have it already cut?
I'd guess that handle assembly is no different then one for a cap. Likely buy them as a replacement at any cap store. Or you can call ARE and see if you can get a key for that code number? Do you have a local locksmith? You could have a key made. Any good locksmith could figure it out quickly.
Most of those locking mechanisms are to keep the honest people honest, only. A firm pull will bent those 1/4" rods that latch the lid.
