I have fallen love with the F-150 XL

I think the current gen F-150 XL is best looking XL truck that Ford has made since the 1986 models. I just love the plain Jane look, I always have and I especially love the steel wheels. Call me cooky, I don't care. It's not a money thing.

Traditionally lower tech = higher reliability but lower resale. Who cares, they look great.

I went and ginned one up on the Ford web site. I see what you mean. We had wanted to get the caribou color, but in XLT and up, you can't get both caribou and sport trim. However, the XL is basically sport trim only, and you can get it with the caribou color. We might have gone with that had we known...

I just just playing around with my own "dream build" today and the XL in Caribou is the way I'd go. They ride so nice, who needs fancy tech?

Here are two other options, knowing Tim doesn't like painted bumpers, he could go with the chrome pkg, but he would lose the cool looking steel wheels.

Or Tim could go with the sport appearance pkg, but still loses the steel wheels, and with both pkgs, he would have to add the 101a pkg. you lose certain color options w/sport appearance pkg.

These are both xl builds w/101a pkg, almost an xlt from 20 years ago with all of the equipment that pkg gives you, I don't like black plastic headlight surrounds, going with either the chrome pkg or the sport appearance pkg gives you painted headlight surrounds, you lose the steel wheels, but you probably could get the dealer to swap from a base xl, what I like about the fords are that its easier to option a truck up alacart, I don't understand the gm or dodge trim levels.

Great ideas guys and thanks for the replies. I'm not getting a new truck BTW, my wife is next in line to get a vehicle and she would be pissed.

Yesterday I saw a white Screw in XL dress with the steelies and I was totally in love. Don't know why but I couldn't take my eyes off the truck.

I have been window shopping myself and I really like the looks of the XL with the sport package and Magnetic paint. Add the power group and IMO have a sharp looking, practical truck.

I remember being so excited over the looks of the new 1981 or 1982 F series. Looked way better!

We have the same arrangement and next in line was the wife, but...when the 2005 Expy needed to be replaced last year, she relented and we bought the 2015 screw. She really likes it and all, but its not a new mustang and I'm reminded of that on occasions.

About a month ago I saw a black standard cab, short bed, 2.7 Ecoboost, RWD XL in a parking lot and it looked so tough. Very simple and functional--virile, unlike the rococo trucks so often seen today. Very attractive truck to those with a certain refined taste. It probably goes like Hell too.
