Oh, Henry
So this past weekend I moved it to the big garage to better get into it. Yesterday I gave the body a good going over and found out something very interesting. The PO sanded every part of the body to remove cracks in the paint so I have a very good picture of the past.
Henry has ten coats of paint on ALL parts, fenders, doors, bed sides, cab, etc. Henry left the factory in black (two coats with primer). Then it was primed again and again painted black (two more coats). Then it was primed again and painted red (two more coats). Then primed and painted again, brown this time (two more coats). Primed and painted again, (last two coats) blue, finally!
Since I bought the truck from a guy in South Carolina, I believe that this is indeed a southern truck (add in the fact that the truck has a virgin firewall, no holes, no heater) and it has all of it's original sheet metal. And it's original bed. As far as color goes, I have always repainted my projects into their original color but in this case I will make an exception, since I hate black vehicles. Not only do they have to have perfect skins, they are a bear to keep clean and they get awfully hot in the summer. So it will most likely get stripped and repainted in a nice blue color to be determined.
Later!
