I tightened the adjusting bolts on my truck to raise the front end up 1 inch, but I didn't jack up the front end to relieve the tension on the suspension. Will this cause any damage? How far can it be raise without the alignment going out of spec.? I also had to give the pass. side bolt 1 more turn than the drivers to get the height and to be level. My truck also came from the factory with drivers side bolt turned in farther than the passenger side, but still have a couple threads left after lifting.
I’m not sure as I’m also looking into this now but I noticed that my truck also has the drivers side turned more than the passenger side from the factory. It’s turned in about a1/2-3/4” more.
It took 3 full turns of the bolt to raise the right side up 5/8” to even it with the left side. I just wanted to get the truck evened out. Plus it felt like it had a bad shock and they are new. Search around in the 97-03 section, as there is a lot of talk on cranking up the adjuster to bring the front end up.
Most things I have heard about "cranking up the bars" is your ball joints may wear faster. Almost every story I have heard of cranking up Chevy trucks an Dodge Dakotas seem to end with new ball joints.
I just cranked my bars and i have 11 inches clearance between the top of the front tire and the fender, and 9 inches in the rear.....i turned the drivers side 5 times and the passenger side4 times....the passenger side is turned up as far as it will go...but both sides are exactly even. I may let it back down tho until i have to go and get another realignment because i didnt want to make a special trip for that. Thats 45 bucks...i can wait.

Doesn’t your truck look like a boat going down the road now with the front end up in the air?
yes...it makes it much easier to turn the adjustment bolts. I just lifted the front end until the tires were barely off the ground....this was enough to take the strain off the suspension.
