thinking about a new truck.Found a 16 exactly how I want except it doesn,t have the factory brake controller.I thought I had read here where it could be added later.Has anyone here done this and what were the costs?
Good point. Seems like we are all adding them anyway. Oh well. Easy way to knock an eye-popping $200 off the MSRP.
Was $275 on the '15s, not sure if it went down or not. I can buy the controller from a dealer for $120, install it myself, and pay them $50 to turn it on. Glad I didn't pay for it from the factory!
I'm gland I decided to look here. I never would have thought it would need to be reprogrammed or "turned on". I just bought a new 16 and was going to install it myself - then I would have been kicking myself when it didn't work.

You should still install it yourself! Then use the Forscan app to turn it on, or pay your local dealer. Still cheaper than paying them to install it,
