49 flathead v8 dipstick problems.

Recently when I check my oil, the tube comes out with the dipstick. It will not thread back in. It just spins. When I pull it out the threads look decent. I can't get my head up there to look into the hole into the block to see the threads in there. I wish I was a halibut, then I could see in there but anyways, does this tube problem happen for you other v8 owners?

The fitting the tube screws into is aluminum or pot metal. Sounds like it's stripped. I think I'd just clean it as good as you can (hole and tube) and goober it with RTV. If you ever have the pan off you can add a set screw or figure something else out. The p/n for the boss is 8BA-6751-A, not reproduced. Maybe someone on here has a pan that is no good but can remove the boss.

Ok. I was wondering how that thing was rigged in there. Maybe jb weld or panel bond would work. Thanks
