So I have a 2016 6.7L love it but it has this vibration at 65 mph that is worse when accelerating up a hill. It feels like an out of balance wheel but I have had them balanced 3 times. road forced 2 times. My dealer replaced the driveline also. I did a test with 400 lbs of concrete bags in the bed and it was vibration free. It almost is like the pinion angle is off. If anyone has any advice it would be great.
They put a brand new driveline assembly in. The thing is the vibration is intermittent. Vibration is more consistent when it's hotter outside. Doesn't make sense!!
It was put in because of the vibration. The vibration disappears when there is 200 lbs or more in the back. I shouldn't have to drive around with stuff in the back to Make it not vibrate.
dealer gave up ??? tires, bearings in diff or tran shaft ??? all guesses, really bad u joint ??? all guesses, i would ask ford to send out a factory rep ... if they were unable ti fix u might be able to pull in factory rep...
Put the tire/rim assemblies on the balancer and see if the tires have a hop or the rim has a hop. A good tire man will notice this, a novice or someone in a hurry wont see it. They put the safety cover of the balance machine over the spinning wheel and they dont look for hop and just keep re-balancing. I fought the same thing. My 17" OEM tires were great to 40K. When they wore out I put on a set of brandy new BF Goodriches and they vibrated. 6 times to the tire shop for a re-balance, no luck. Had the tire shop swap the new BFs to new Master Craft Coopers. Vibe gone now? I rotated the Coopers every 5K. Now at the 20K mark I did my normal 5k rotation and all the sudden the vib came back. One tire had a hop. The wheel/rim had the hop too. So the tire took the set of the shizt wheel but why at 20K? SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Tired of chasing it. Put on a new set of 18" Michelin KR take offs and the ride is like glass now. I had to spend $1800 to get rid of it. Not sure what to do with the other tire/rims. Cant Craig's list them wont do that to someone. So likely put a new tire on a junkyard rim so i have a good winter set. Why the hell are these big knarley trucks so dam sensitive to balance. Youd think it wouldn't be. I never had this problem with the Big Rigs Its always these medium duty 4wd trucks every time I change tires.
Your still under warranty so stand there while they spin the wheels and look for the hop. Then have them replace what ever is hopping...easy right?
