How do I install rear shocks

I know, it seems obvious, but I just got shocks for my truck. Stock 55 F250.
The top location is on a rear cross member. It seems that the shock will need spacers to keep them from rubbing.

So how do you go about installing them? Is there a spacer you guys use? Am I looking at it wrong?
I also got heavier duty shocks for the rear that have a spring on them which exasperates the problem.

Here are pictures of what I'm seeing.

Notice how the mounting hole is about 3/4 the way up the crossmember.

I bought the shocks thinking a quick and simple install
What am I missing?

Did the shocks not come with mounting hardware? Double-ended bolts with spacers, lock washers, nuts, etc.? Similar to this:

By the way... the overload shock/springs aren't really a good idea for any vehicle. (I know there will be a lot of peeps arguing that *rollseyes*) The way they bolt in on your truck, and most other vehicles, was never intended to carry weight and will eventually cause issues.

I found the the bag of extra stuff. It only included two inch long spacers.
This should pull the shock out far enough, but I will need to head to the hardware store for bolts.

I would like others opinions on the shock/spring combo. I was just wanting something a little more heavy duty on the rear, but I won't be doing much with them.

Another easy fix is to drill out one of the lower holes in the reinforcing plate and mount it there. Should give you added clearance and wont really raise the truck.
