Forscan trouble.

Got my elm 327 adapter today. Downloaded Forscan, but when I try to connect it says no elm found please check connection. I have a single red light lit on the addapter. Any ideas.

2003 F350 6.0
Dell Insperon w/ windows 10

Are you using a laptop? Is it wifi or Bluetooth. Did you turn the key on when you try to connect to vehicle.

Yes a laptop hooked to wifi. But the adapter is a direct usb plug in to the computer. Key is on.

Maybe open the settings menu and check to see if the COM settings is set to auto and the connection type is set to auto. If that doesn't work it's possible the adapter is bad.

Just came in to post that I figured out I needed to change the connection type from wifi to auto. When I read this. Thanks. Now to play with it a little.
