Very rusty rainwater and chunks of concrete. Previous owner had let a small batch of concrete cure in the barrel for 50+ years. It may have been unintentional because when I got the truck the PTO was hanging from it's shaft and all the studs on the transmission were broken off.

Did you have to bang on the outside of the drum with a hammer to break it loose?

Nope. I think just sitting in there for 50+ years letting the rainwater get between the concrete and steel, rusting and then freezing a few dozen times is what it took. Spinning the barrel slowly for a few minutes seemed to let gravity do the hard work, at the expense of the barrel skin.

Thank you. Getting all the parts to rebuild that gauge cluster was a challenge.

That is very nice you could go around to the redi mix companies and let then buy space on the drum for whatever time and have them pay for restoration.

Your truck is coming along nicely. Have you been down in the barrel yet? Could throw a yard of gravel in there and spin it for awhile to help clean it up some.

Good job! Looks great thanks for the video.

You need to run more aggregate in there to clean out all the rust or your first batch of concrete will be rust colored.

Thanks. Going to be awhile before any real mud is mixed. Barrel is beginning to look like Swiss cheese. It's what happens when it sits in one spot for 50 years.
