Hello,
Have a 63 truck, and just got it running and put gas in the tank and gauge does not work. The orange wire at the tank has a pulsating 12 volts at the sending unit.On the other end the gauge has a pulsating 12 volts volts on the black and green striped wire.So what should I look for to see what is right or wrong with gauge or sending unit in the tank.Thank You all for your help again.Greyhound
Hello,
Well I took out the gas tank sending unit and found my problem. No float on the float rod.Put a new float on and it works now. That was a simple fix for a change. Thanks
Often it turns out that the gauge is fine but the float has holes in it due to years of corrosion, so it won't float. Had that happen to a carburetor once, nearly had a fire due to the overflowing, eek !
