oil filter

I have a 4.0 6 cyl engine and i went to change the oil one day and noticed that my oil filter is crammed in there. Is there an easy way to get it out. ALso my oil plug is difficult to take out. I tried using a 1/2 inch wrench and i dont want to round off the edges. any info would be nice. thanx

Use a 12 mm for the drain plug. Buy a filter wrench that slips over the bottom of the filter that grips the lower inch of so of the filter and turns from below with a ratchet. Looks like a cup with a socket on the bottom. Once you break the filter loose, I usually stab it with a screw driver and let is drain before removing the filter.

the 12 mm wrench and socket are too small. I have a 1/2 inch plug in there. The thing is that it doesnt want to come out. My father sugested that i should find someone with an air compressor and a neumatic drill(srry my spelling is horrible). Are there other solutions. thanx

I would try the idea of putting the special filter wrench over the bottom and use a 1/2 inch drive ratchet with a 1/2 to 2/8 adapter, to give you leverage.
