I am new to this forum and excited for your feedback!
I just recently purchased a 1959 F-100 2 Dr Styleside. I am trying to restore them to OEM specs and was wondering if anyone knows what the original tires specs were for my truck?
Depends on what wheels you have. The 16" x 4.5" and 16" x 5.0" wide wheels could have been fitted with either 6.00 x 16" (4 ply), 6.00 x 16" (6ply), or 6.50 x 16" (6 ply) tires. The 15" x 5.5" wide wheels could have been fitted with either 6.50 x 15" (6 ply) or 6.50 x 15" (8 ply). Both 16" wheel sizes were cited as being both "tube type" and "tubeless" drop center wheels. Only the 15" x 5.5" was truly a multi-part tube type heavy duty wheel having the Firestone RHP style locking side ring two part rim.
There were two other wheels at the time that were termed "tubeless". One is a 15" x 5" that could have been fitted with either 6.70 x 15" (4 ply), 6.70 x 15" (6 ply), 7.10 x 15" (4 ply), or 7.10 x 15" (6 ply) tires. Last, you may have the truly rare 17.5" x 5.25" wheels that could have been fitted with 7-17.5" (6 ply), 7-17.5" (8 ply), 8-17.5" (6 ply), or 8-17.5" (8 ply) tires. Stu
