What could be causing my turbo to be fluctuating while accelerating? I can definitely hear the difference in the sound of the air and today while towing my camper I could even see the dash gauge bouncing around some.
Not sure what year truck you have but I'd start with cleaning map, ebp, and egr. Are you down on power any? Any cracks in your ypipe? Holes in CAC or exhaust boots/pipes? Just throwing some things out there. Also could be a VGT solenoid issue (rare I think though) Do you have anything to read live data?
2006. No holes in anything that I have found. I have replaced ebp icp. Have not looked at map yet. Egr cooler deleted but egr installed and plugged in.
No lose of power of any kind, just getting the odd boost/ surging when accelerating
Pull your air cleaner box out. Below you have the box that rests on the cac line and they're prone to wearing a hole into the turbo line. Once it's starts to get bigger, you'll hear the turbo whoosh.
Well I started simple and found my intercooler inlet boot needs replaced. It was coming off under the clamp but not if yet, had a decent amount of oil on the boot. I'll have to get one at the local steelership today. Hopefully that's all I need.
I'm curious how you knew you had a bad vgt actuator. As I expected replacing the boot did not solve anything, but it did need replaced. Haven't had time to check on anything else while away from home on vacation. Hopefully not causing any damage and just an inconvenience while driving
