Help please before i junk it!
Hey i have a 1989 F150 regular cab short box 4x4 302 5-speed manual
The old motor was toast so my friends talked me into i putting a 1996 5.0L in the truck. But it either wont start, wont idle or wont rev up
I used the original computer and it wont idle but revs fine but blows black smoke
I used the 96 computer and it wont idle but revs perfect still blows black smoke
Used a computer out of a 90 351 and it started perfect, idled a little rough (thought timing was out a bit) and reved perfect no black smoke but i shut it off went to start it again and if i do get it to start it sounds like its running on 4 cylinder, but no black smoke
What am i missing?
I switched the firing order to the 351/HO firing order.
New coolant temp sensor
New heat gauge sensor
New plugs
MSD wires
Egr delete
