Turn signals quit working on my 2006 E-150. Swapped out the relay under the dash and it did nothing. Also noticed the brake lights aren't working. The headlights and taillight a are working. I pulled the fuses under dash for the lights and they tested ok. I did notice the flasher relay was making clicking sounds intermittently even when not touching anything.
If someone could point me in the right direction, I's sure appreciate it.
This is a guess without testing, but more than likely it's your multi-function switch failing. It's what you would normally call the turnsignal switch. It's the common denominator between the brake lights and the rear turn lights. And of course it does the front turns also.
What you can try also is tilt the steering wheel up and down while having the signals on. See if they try to work. Sometimes a plug is loose inside the column from the wires being pulled too tight when it tilts.
Thank you for your reply. I pulled the covers off and sprayed contact cleaner into connections and made sure they were tight. Everything is working again. Would you recommend changing that thing out, anyway? I'm a poor boy and don't want to buy parts, but I need brake lights and turn signals. Haha
If it's working I would not worry about it. If you are worried about it, start saving up for a new one. At least you have it under control and know what the problem is.
That switch also has the wipers, washer and the high/low beam.
