Tomorrow morning at 7 am I'm having some rebuild work done. New ball joint and tie rod on my left side... the hip has been getting progressively worse since Easter before last and the bone cracker says it's time... cartilage in the joint is gone. From the pain and lack of mobility I've got no reason to doubt his diagnosis.
If you have the time in your day tomorrow, how bout thinking good things, offering up a little prayer for me, the doctor and crew and my poor wife/nurse that this goes quickly and successfully. It's putting about a 2 month work stoppage on the truck but hey, I've been on it since 1995... two months ain't gonna make much difference.
Good thoughts going out to you from your FTE family. If this is your first one then know they have made great breakthroughs in this field and you should be up in no time. After the surgery do all your rehab and the truck and you will be together faster. Good luck My friend.
Thoughts and prayers John...that said, these procedures have become almost commonplace these days. Easy to say when you are not the one under the knife.
That's a big 10/4 John. Try not to worry, they have these joint replacement procedures down these days. How ever I'm a big believer in prayer, and have seen miracles as a result. Please give us updates after your surgery. Take care my friend.
Will be thinking of you, you'll be back at it in short order.
But dont rush it. Little by little.
While your in the shop maybe they can do some other maintenance/ upkeep etc while your there.... Oh wait. They dont like to mix it up.
Anyway. Make sure you get the extended warranty on all parts and laber...
I'm on it John. Fwiw, I have a friend that's had both sides done, and he's only been down for three weeks each side. He's a contractor to so he beats himself up on a daily basis. Apparently it's not a really big deal, just requires some rehab and easy chair time.
John will be praying for you and thinking. Just think the bump steer will be gone. You will be ready for Crusin the Coast, we are not going to make it down this year so this will be the one your at . We are going Seattle way in Sept so that will take up our Oct trip money wise. Good luck and while you are laid up you can write some more articles on you build we like the way you put things. Hey Brother - Make sure they put a good zerk fitting in there - I started praying when I read your post, just upped the normal prayers to Family and Friends with medical issues, then I'll tag on a by name request - and I'll add a bunch more because I can.
Prayers for you and your family.
My mom had her hip replaced a year or so ago. The surgery only took about an hour. My dad and I were surprised the doc came back so quickly.
Mom said the hip was much easier to recover from than her knee.
Follow doctors orders and you will be up and working on the truck soon.
