So I recently purchased a very nice used 2009 F-150 Screw. I love the Fords but the one thing I do hate about it is the integrated ashtray.
# 1 it will not shut - Nothing looks broke but it just hangs open. Any info to help fix it before I just start ripping it apart would be greatly appreciated.
#2 I don't smoke so if anyone knows of ANY aftermarket options to replace it please share. I would much rather replace it with something useful than try to fix it.
FWIW the 2011-14 trucks don't have this type of ashtray. Instead they have an open cubby holder slot. So if you go to a local salvage yard you may be able to get an entire interface skin and swap it out updating the look of your interior. I would suggest making sure that the newer part will interchange into your truck. I don't see why it wouldn't, but don't know for certain either. Otherwise my guess would be that there is a spring that either broke or popped off allowing the ashtray to just flop open all the time.
Judging by the above picture. It looks as though I may stand corrected. It looks like that cubby is a separate panel. So you may not need the entire interface. You may be able to just swap that panel. Your local Ford parts dept. or salvage yard should be able to verify if it will in fact interchange. But then again it may be a trial and error sort of thing.
You could take it out, and put one of those small Midland CB's in there. I did, but no photo. If you're interested, I'll get a photo tomorrow during daylight.
Velcro? Are you a chevy or dodge guy trolling here?
ha no
I had a 2008 F150 & didnt have that ashtray either
I have a 2010 F150 & have a cup holder ash tray but it's "uninstalled"
Velcro would work like a charm - you place it on the inside of the door so it's out of site. I have a bedrug in the bed of my truck and it's in place with velcro - been holding up fine with velcro for almost 7 years now.
