Tranny removal
I'm doing a motor swap, replacing locked up 4.6. I know this may be a stupid question, but how do I, or can I even, turn the flex plate to access the converter bolts?
Motor locked up when timing chain guide came apart and chain bound everything up. Timing chain is free now but motor won't turn.

I think I would pull the engine/tranny as a unit. Taking the bell housing bolts out, you might not have enough room to just slide the tranny back, leaving the converter still attached. The engine has to come out anyways. Might just take the front sheet metal off so you have plenty of room.

If you can't rotate the engine you can't turn the flex plate. I recommend removing the engine and trans as a unit. Then remove the trans, leaving the converter bolted to the flex plate. With the trans out of the way you should be able to remove the converter nuts and then the flex plate.
