Gents, first of all I hate having my first post as a cry for help but I'm real stupped on this one. I have a 1991 Ford F-350 Crew cab 2wd, 7.3IDI banks turbo, with a 3G (Big case) alt upgrade. The issue I seem to have is when ever I switch on the A/C the voltage drop considerably. I'm talking from 14.1 to 12.9, Im not sure what is causing that large of a draw.. Ive changed the blower motor, blower motor resistor, and switch in the dash, to no change. Not sure what else to do if anyone has an idea, or if this problem has been solved in a previous thread plz attach.
Where are you measuring this drop from? If the dash gauge or one of those cigarette lighter plugs your wasting your time, if across your battery I'd say you have an alternator problem.
So if you turn just the blower onto high speed with out the ac on the voltage doesn't drop? The moment you do the same thing but with ac it drops? The clutch only draws a few amps and cannot load down your alternator to the point where it can't sustain output (if it did you'd have wires lighting on fire and the clutch melting down).
It is possible you have a bad connection to your batteries or alternator to fender relay or grounds that's I would check.
