I haven't posted in this section for a while. Alice, my brown truck STILL hasn't gotten a new engine. I hope to get one in there before the old one completely lets loose.
Anyway, on to the progress and updates on Earthquake. While doing a car crush, I shattered the front axle. Three of the four internal axle shafts broke, the center section was trash and one drive flange was trash. I decided to change everything around in the front so it worked better. I swapped out all the bad parts, turned the axle around so it is now rear steer (steering behind the axle) and passenger side drop. I swapped out the second transfer case from a Dana 24 to another NP205.
I also started to make the safety upgrades to the truck to be MTRA compliant. Brake guards, driveshaft loops, back up alarm and light, roll cage, etc. are all on the "to do" list.
In order to get the truck around better, I got a new hauler. This truck has actually hauled several teams over the years. It started out pulling Mopar Magic, then over the years it hauled Energizer, Gun Slinger, Bad News Travels Fast, Stomper, and now Earthquake. There's quite a bit of history here, and I'm proud to own it.
The new trailer will get a crane, for sure. If I go any distance, I can tire the truck down, load the wheels and tires up front, then truck behind. If it's a local show, I can wide load it. The best of both worlds.
Always glad to see Earthquake and udates. That new front end looks pretty stout. I really like history, and the new tow rig certainly has plenty of it, great find. Keep up the good work Alan, someday I'm gonna see that bad *** ford in person.
everything on the truck is starting to look pretty good mr. earthquake... the new frt. axle and the right side drop 205 look like they belong there.. i wish i could see it in person i bet it is impressive...
i really like the new trailer for mongo.. it definitely looks heavy duty enough
