Fuel line options

Wondering what you guys are using to replace fuel lines as they give out. I've lost the hard line from the filter to the injector pump. Went to the international dealership and they seem skeptical that they can get it and I need to get the engine serial number for them to even look it up.

If thats the case I was thinking about replumbing the system over time and going to AN connectors. Has anyone tried it before? Or better ideas floating around? Seems like the hardest part will be getting the lines in a diesel rated line.

As always, any and all insights welcomed.

Why can't you use brake line? Double flare it, if necessary, and change the fittings to the flare type. I have used brake line, for gas, in the past I partially flared a brake line to swell the line for a line-to-hose transition, then used a clamp to tighten it down at the buldge. You have to hold the end of the line well off the flaring tool to cause the bulge near the tool.

OR, the line you are talking about should be a lower pressure line, well under the burst strength of a rubber fuel line. Why can't you use barbed fittings and run a soft line between these two points?

the only lines that must be hard line is the high pressure injector lines from IP to injectors, all other lines have less than 4lbs pressure, and can be anything that wont melt from diesel fuel. there is a restrictor orifice in both return lines from IP and filter housing on 7.3 some trucks came with a check valve ball behind the fitting in filter housing, most folks say that air leaks are most common at injector return caps (plastic) the o rings leak, and allow the filter to drain back to the tank, or the fuel heater o rings in the top of filter housing, this problem is made worse when some one has blocked of the return from the filter, as this makes it impossible to refill the filter before the engine dies, as their is no path for air to be pushed back to the tank, as was intended, the engine will run for several minuets on the fuel in the line from the filter to the IP there is a reason that this line runs strait down from the filter so that air will rise back to filter and exit out the return line, air that enters the IP will produce a miss fire or hard starting.

I have 2 spare ones if you want one. They seal with whats called an olive. I run a JIC 5 stainless feed line for my fuel supply but i have an aftermarket pump and filter setup. If you dont have a local hydralic shop you can always buy the adapter to run a rubber line from Justin

DB2 injection pump inlet fittings

Any NAPA carries 30r14 barricaded hose which is bio diesel rated. That's what i used for connections between my hardlines under the frame.

Thanks Shawn, I went ahead and bit the bullet on the AN stuff though.

1/4 NPT to -6 AN then a -6 AN 90 and -6 AN 120 for the connections to the fuel filter and IP (weird they used NPT). Got some Dayco hose from summit (along with everything else) that they declare is perfect for any gashol/diesel fuels. Should be a pretty straightforward fix at this point. I'll update with results.

Dayco PN is 800080
