17 psi sounds pretty good for stock injectors. By a "load" the way I understand it is if the drivetrain is not engaged there isn't a load... Somebody correct me if I'm wrong though.
That EGT probe should of been in either exhaust manifold, you'll get as much as a 300° difference.
Load means your driving your truck around making heat in exhaust to spool the turbo
No load -accelerate in parking/ neutral and there's no heat or air velocity to make the turbo spool.

Reason: stupid spell check
If you are running 1100 degrees with the egt probe in the downpipe, you very well could be asking for problems if not already caused some. Like Adam said above, there could be at least 300 degrees difference between there and the manifold, and you don't want to run over 1250 very long with it in the manifold..
ok guys
This is getting crazy!
Lets assume turbo is working and making up to 17psi at 3000 RPM when truck is pulling a load.
If i keep the propane set mild and my tuner for no more than 50 HP and watch my EGT's am I in any danger to hurting the motor?
Thanks HB

What's getting crazy? That about right for a non intercooled intake manifold pressure in a stock tune with 90cc single shots.
I hope I don't make you angry, but have fun with the propane. My previous post was a forewarning. There is a reason no one does it anymore. I give you maybe 3 oil changes before you window a piston running 1100 degrees at the down pipe and adding propane and more fuel on a chip... Best of luck.
Run the chip, get rid of the propane, and put your egt gauge in the manifold.
I will say with propane and a mild tow tune on a stock turbo high 20s to 30 psi is achievable!!! Go for it!

Yes. Propane screws with your timing, I can almost gurantee your timing is already advanced because of your chip, add in propane and your really just guessing at what your timing is. It's just a matter of time before a rod leaves the block....
And move the pyro probe to the manifold, you'll be amazed at how much difference there is.
It is virtually impossible to drill the up pipe, I did it ONCE....
If you lay under the truck look up at the drivers manifold, there is a nice open spot right in the middle of the bend between the #8 cylinder port and the exhaust donut.
With 2 bits and a tap i can install the probe in 15 minutes.
