i wouldnt go with 92-97 frame the crumple zone on the front end opened the doors to the new age of disposable trucks and plastic panels and bumpers one good smack and its a write off
i like the real steal re buildable trucks pre 92
If more people shared that attitude it would keep the price down for those of us who can cut a wavy line with a grinder and lay a bead of weld
Seriously, both frames will suck in a crash without additional stiffening and something substantial (like an I beam or C channel behind the bumper) tying the frame rails together at the very front end. It's not the 1970s anymore grandpa. You old truck will lose if you T bone a modern sedan. A 1/8 stamped bumper is nothing compared to a modern passenger cabin.
The possible solution:
1996 f350 chassis cab sc 4x4 137" wb (i think)
Will the frame off of the obs go underneath the bricknose? What are the differences in the frame if any? I know the front bumper mounts are different, but are there any other things that I will need to address?
