They can also be intermittent. I had one that would sometimes die while idling at a stop light. Start right back up again, and might not do it for weeks. One evening when I had some time, but no parts, I removed the sensor, checked for cracked wires, cleaned it up and sprayed the connector with contact cleaner, reassembled, and it never did it again.

That about sums up the issues I am experiencing.....I think for $20 from rock auto, I will go ahead and replace it.
Any other areas that may cause an intermittent stall that I should check?
I think for $20 from Rock Auto you'll be replacing it again in short order. Stick with the more expensive major brand stuff or snag one from Clay over at RiffRaff. Those cheap aftermarket ones don't exactly have the best reliability history for anyone here.
Could be worth checking some other things like oil level, etc. I had a slow leak that left me extremely low after a road trip and in certain conditions the truck would crap out due to lack of oil for the injectors
CPS is a good place to start, but as with any sensor on these things don't skimp and try to stick to Motorcraft or OEM if possible.

Rock auto has the OEM Motorcraft for $19.95........
Couldn't find it when I checked right quick before I posted, might've glossed over it.... Been all over the place today moving houses.
Unless we're getting different search results for the same vehicle, all I see are the Delphi, Ultra, Airtex, and Standard Motor Product... None of which is the Motorcraft variant.

Yeah.....It's there if you do a parts number search for F4TZ12K073C......It is out of stock now......Probably why it did not come up in the general search.
I'm on the app right now and so I'm limited in the help I can provide, but if someone hasn't posted about the IPR and the tin nut by the time I'm back in front of the computer, I'll dig up the pics and info for you.
Also, yes, your symptoms can be caused by your CPS. It can be intermittent hiccups with occasional stalls, or it can just give up the ghost.
I've had both, but the intermittent stalling has happened more often than cutting out and never restarting.
