Replace Bulb in Trailer Reverse Light?

My trailer uses Bargman reverse lights as pictured below. I would like to replace the bulb with an LED. As near as I can tell that is not possible. It appears that the entire assembly is replaced instead. Can anyone confirm that?

If the bulb can't be replaced then I'm going to polish the lens to remove the opacity, reinstall it back in my trailer and call it a day.

Did you take the lens off to see?

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I can't get the lens off at all. I see no way to disassemble the entire unit. In other words, bulb goes out, replace the entire thing.

Usually you just have to squeeze the top and bottom of the lens(close to the frame at centerline) at the same time and gently pull it away from the body of the frame. Or check if you can find a notch to insert a flat bladed screwdriver into and just lift it out.

the few I have worked with

there is 3 or 4 tangs... going into the body/shell of light...

sometimes both hands are needed to squeeze ... and like already stated 1 or 2 screwdrivers...

while squeezing .. also push lens to one longer side.. helping with space for tangs to slide out of slots.

never seen glued lens .. but you know the .... story.

Can't believe it won't pry off. My best friend in these situations is the wide blade Buck knife I use for prying. Thin blade works better for me than screw drivers.

I cleaned it up and put it back on. I tried a number of things to get the lens off and it wouldn't come off. I'm thinking it is designed to be 100% waterproof and is therefore completely sealed and not intended to be opened.

The trailer's owner's manual listed a replacement bulb for that light so I expected to be able to replace it.

I was unable to find a replacement oval reverse light assembly from Bargman. They have replacement brake lights but no reverse lights. If I have to replace it I'll buy a complete LED assembly I guess. So now I have two unused bulbs sitting around.

Yeah, that was the strange thing. The Bargman name was on it but absolutely no product number.

The opacity that I mentioned earlier in the thread was not something I could do anything about. I polished the lens and then realized that the frosting of the lens is on the inside. So I guess it's supposed to be a diffuser. More of a flood light than a spot light. Oh well, now the outside is nice and shiny.

Just for giggles I'm going to see what Bargman has to say. Inquiring minds want to know!
