Daytime dash illumination

We have a Georgetown 378TS motor home. It is built on a 26,000 lb Ford chassis with a V10 gas engine. With the huge front window there is a lot of light coming in while driving during the day. The light colored ceiling and other things cause a lot of glare on the dash and that much light usually means wearing sun glasses.

When the lights are on at night there is a control for changing the intensity of the dash lights so we can read things like the trip odometer. During the day the dash lights are so low that you can’t read the dash unless you are passing through a very shaded stretch of road.

Does anyone know if there is any way to adjust the intensity of the dash lights when the headlights are off?

Welcome to FTE

Most of the time the dash lights are pretty much off for daylight driving -- the idea is that you can see everything by the light coming in.

You could just turn on your parking lights, if you don't want to run with your headlights on. Your light adjustment will probably work with just those lights on. Otherwise, turn your headlights on -- traffic safety guys want us to keep 'em on all the time anyway ( not saying that I agree).

Good Luck,

hj

I wasn’t clear enough in my first post, ! I’m not talking about the lights around the dash that let you see the speed and RPM dials at night, I’m talking about the digital display for miles to empty, trip mileage, etc. When you turn on parking or head lights, yes the dash lights do come on and they can be adjusted, but that also dims the intensity of the digital display, again adjustable but always dimmer. What I’d like to do is intensify the digital display when the head/park lights are off.

When I’m in my driveway in the shade of the trees with the sun behind me, the intensity of the digital display is perfect. When I’m on an interstate with the sun somewhere in front of me I can barely see it; except when I go under an overpass!
