Quick question, has anyone tried or successfully put on Tri-y headers on a 73-79 dent? I have a 347 going into my rig and I am trying to squeeze out the most torque that I can out my setup. I was told Tri-y's give better torque then long tube headers.
I'm thinking the OP is comparing a Tri-Y to a 4 into 1 long tube header.
How much torque are you thinking the Tri-Y's will net you if you do find a set that fits? You could try a search on a Mustang Forum to see if there are any dyno comparisons published showing the difference in the two header styles. The 347 is much more common with that crowd than the pickup crowd I'd imagine.
I put a set of tri Y's from Stan's (FPA) on my 460 in a 77 F150. I had to move a brake line on the drivers side other than that it was just bolt them up. All kinds of clearance for the starter.... didn't even pull it off for the install. They're kind of high dollar but are excellent high quality headers. I'm very happy with them.
You might find some dyno info on Stan's web page or Scott Johnston's RHP site. Good luck with it.
