Radiator Support Help

I need to find out what years radiator support will swap with 66. I am starting to go through all my parts and get my 66 project ready for sale when I noticed the support was missing. I have not a clue, but it been 15 years or more since I had to quit work on it. I found an extra (very solid) cab along with front fenders that I was aware of but no radiator support.

Thank you for any help.

John, here's a couple worth parting in the area if you're into that? Well, as far as I can tell by pics anyways. If they are any count, you would probably get your money back and more and end out with a support.

1966 Ford Truck

1964 f100 shortbed

Of course if you are selling a truck that is dismantled, how many will KNOW they are getting a '64 support?

Don't have any place to part one out, so not going that route.

markeyd That thread argued more about steel than what years would swap with a 66 2wd.

One of the subtle differences in the 1966 F100/250 2WD core support is the nuts embedded in the support for the battery tray. At least compared to the 1966 F250 4x4 style core support where the battery tray is attached to the passengers outer frame rail. But, then a bigger difference between those two is the large standoffs for the radiator.

I can take pics of the two styles I have here. Almost need a new thread to discuss and post pics of rad supports. Part numbers and applications are well known, but how many good pics/threads of the differences are there?

.

Jowilker, the only reason I posted it was because they mentioned that 66 was a unique year for that part, and not shared by other years if I read it correctly. Sorry I posted it without a comment to clarify why I did so. I was rushing because as was making the post my old lady rushed me out of the house.

Also, one poster was talking about how that was the one year not available for 2x4 in the lmc catalog, but mentioned somewhere they got the a part that fit, albeit with chinese steel.

I also need a new radiator support and found the following post helpful. It's an old post so there is now a '65 support sold by LMC that has the angled fender brackets - which if I am understanding correctly would make the only difference the radiator mounts and the battery tray mounts which would be easy to modify to work. Hope it helps.

I don't plan on building it myself, and couldn't remember the details on whether it was year swappable or not.

I haven't decided whether to buy one or be able to point to one when I make a sale.

Radiator support

1966 2WD is unique to 1966. You can use a 1965 but you will have to use a 1965 Radiator. My 66 F250 has a '65 support with the radiator extensions cut off and 4 holes drilled for the '66 radiator to mount. The 1965 radiator is the same as the 1976 radiator

1965 240/300/352 radiators are 1965 F100/250 2WD & 1966 F100 4WD only as the mounting flanges are in a different location than they are on the 1966 F100/250 2WD & 1967/79 F100/350 radiators.

My 76 4x4 radiator has the brackets reversed in relation to the 66 and will work on the 65 support. Just an observation if you don't want or have access to a new radiator.

If the truck is a v8 you can switch the brackets side to side on the rad to switch it from a 66-65 style. A bit of work to solder them back on but it's not to bad

I have a 66 F-100 that I replaced the radiator support on. I believe I used a 65 F-250 radiator support to replace it. I had to make a custom battery mount and I also had to make two adapter plates to bolt on the original radiator. A year or two ago I ended up just getting a new radiator, which bolted right on to the bulkhead - no adapter plates required. If I remember right, I used a 65 F250 radiator.....I need to start writing these things down.

The truck had a V8 FE 390 in it when disassembly started, then moved 25 miles to a family farm.
