Heater Issue

Was driving today and noticed that at idle my heated air went away. Coolant temp at this point was 185f. Once back to driving, the heat returned. The variant in temperature seems to be related directly to engine speed.

Any ideas what is wrong?

Thanks, as always.

Mine does that in the winter, but only when the temps are close or below zero. Doesn't take long an idle to watch the coolant temp needle sink below the cold mark. Or fast highway speeds in the sub zero range if there is no winter front on.

May we have a moment of silence for my recently departed intellect? ......have no idea why I didn't check my coolant level first....thank you for the responses. Works like a champ now.

I don't need it at all at this time. A friend of mine thought it would be funny to crank the heat while I left the truck running and ran into the house for a minute...and to his surprise, no heat until we got back on the road.
